What is the difference between a combi boiler and a heat only boiler?
A combi boiler uses water direct from the mains supply and heats water as and when you use directed to your hot water outlets. This eliminates the need for a hot water storage tank, saving you space. A heat only boiler, as suggested in its name only produces hot water for your heating system. Cold water is provided to the boiler by a water tank stored in the loft and requires a hot water storage tank to supply your taps, showers etc.
What will affect the cost of my boiler installation?
There are a few factors that can affect the cost of your boiler installation. The location of your boiler is a major factor in the cost of your boiler installation, if you are relocating the position of your boiler, this will incur larger costs to adapt your system. A like for like boiler change is the cheapest option when replacing your boiler.
The size and brand of your boiler will also affect the cost, there are now many different options for boilers suiting any budget and need. Our engineers will always be happy to provide costs for multiple options while ensuring the best result.

What boiler would be more suitable for my property?
When considering what type of boiler you would like to install there are a few factors you need to consider such as the size of your property and your usage of hot water. With our free surveys and no obligation quotes, our engineers will be happy to advise you of the most suitable system for your needs.
If you have a small property with only one bathroom, a combi boiler may be more suitable for you as these are more compact units and it is less likely for your water pressure to be affected.
If you have a larger property, with multiple bathrooms and a higher usage of hot water, a heat only or conventional boiler may be more suitable as it can supply hot water to multiple outlets at the same time without an effect on the pressure.
If you are considering carrying out work to your property to increase its size, this is also something to take into consideration as you may need to change the type of boiler you have.
What are the signs that I should consider a boiler replacement?
- Your boiler is over 10 years old. The average lifespan of a boiler is between 10-15 years, expectancy can increase from annual servicing and maintenance.
- Your boiler is noisy. You should always take action if you notice a change in the noises you boiler makes, this could be an indication of a fault.
- Your bills are increasing. If your heating bills are increasing without a reasonable explanation, such as using your boiler more often, this could indicate the efficiency of your boiler is decreasing.
